Forced Bachelors – unknow ’NRI’ Super Heroes

Stranded NRI

Everyone get excited when we see a beautiful NRI house, or see his young son driving a latest Bullet motor cycle , or see his family having far better life in India.  The result of the hard works done by the NRI guys at foreign country is clearly visible back home. But as time pass by their neighbors do forget his face , as he has not visited his home for the past 8-10 years after he left for foreign land. No body know the pain he has been going through to earn this money to make his family comfortable and happy. Such sacrifices which NRI are making for their families remain unnoticed and ignored.

There are thousands of Indians ( bachelors and married ) those who wanted a job ,  went to another countries as a tourist and did not return intentionally  , asked for an asylum which also got rejected but they stayed on in that countries illegally . They get odd jobs , earning good money for years but could not make a trip back home , as they are trapped due to incomplete  papers to travel. With no family life , they are working like a machine and earning money . They regularly send money by Hawala to their families.

Family First

Those who were matured and married with having young kids are the most disturbed lot. They are earning but are not fortunate to see in person their kid growing or building of his own new house. Their family update them regularly on phone via video call about what is happening back home, that is their life. They are remote DAD and forced bachelors.

DONKI gang working in agriculture Field

There is another type those who went via DONKI route, entered foreign country illegally by destroying their passport to hide their identity. The country they enter cannot deport them due to missing identity, end up giving them work paper after years in detention to work in the agriculture fields away from the cities. These young man of 25+ age group are not able to travel to their home country but are earning and sending monies to their parents. Their chances of getting married without their parents presence are remote and many stay bachelors.

My daughter with the Punjabi guy selling Souvenir at Eiffel Tower – Paris

Few years back I went to Paris with my family as a tourist and to see Eiffel Tower. There were about hundreds of illegal men selling Souvenirs but hiding from French police. When they saw police patrol they will hide and appear back again. I was very surprised to see all this happening daily. Since I was talking in my native language with my wife, a guy who have a Spanish look came to us and start taking to us in Punjabi , asking us to buy Souvenir from him. Being a Punjabi I bought the souvenir from him. And I also did a good chat with him to know his welfare and how he ends up in Paris. He told his story that he entered illegally in France via DONKI route 7 year back , was caught by the police and was jailed for few years. He was then released with many conditions and allowed him to work in the agriculture farms in the outskirts  ( but not in any  City ).  However he was giving slip to the police and was illegally working in Paris city . He told me that he miss his parents and family in Punjab , but do not foresee that he will be ever able to return soon to India due to lack of papers. There are so many similar stories of Indian men trapped in other countries, and they most probably will remain bachelors. They feed their family all their life to make them happy but their sacrifices remains unknown to others.

NRI son returning back after 16 year to see his mother

There are thousands of men who leave India to foreign land to earn money and feed their families back home , but are using the illegal route to enter the foreign countries. They remain trapped for many years there and are not able to return back to see their families. They mostly remain bachelors and stay deprived of a married family life. Those are the real NRI super heroes who are sacrificing their life for their families. And my salute to them.
