How Sikhs are born Drivers ?

Every Punjabi farmer’s son is a born driver.  Punjab is a land of farmers who are mostly Sikhs. Punjab is known as bread basket of India who give 60% wheat and 40% Rice to Indian pool. There are 500,000 tractors in Punjab with an average of 30 tractors per village of Punjab which are used for agriculture. Every teenage boy in Punjabi villages has grown up by driving a Tractors in their agriculture field.

By virtue of this most of Sikh men from 13,000 villages of Punjab are inherit drivers by nature. This driving skill have been optimized by Punjabis by not only driving tractors in the agriculture fields but also as a professional long route truck drivers. Punjabi truckers are leader in India . Punjab with 2% of Indian population have 8% of total long haul trucks in India.

Transporter is a second profession of Sikh Farmers

Punjabi farmers at one time were fully dependent on earning from farming. But as the saving get reduced due to increased cost to  grow crops and managing the farmland, they slowly started doing transport business as an extra income to have a good life. Then lately it becomes major profession for most of the farmers to buy trucks and do goods transport business. There are about 100,000 trucks plying on long haul route on Indian roads which are driven by Punjabis drivers. One new truck cost Rs 18.00 Lakh in India ($23K )

Sikh Truckers in USA

When USA  allowed in 70s the immigrants from south Asia to  work there , Punjabi from India migrated the most . Sikhs who were having background of being a farmers were accepted in California and other states where they drove Agricultural machinery and tractors . With time they were accepted as Truckers in the USA’s trucking industries in most of the states and becomes #nritruckers of India.

American has a population is 332M.  There are aprox 4.2M Indian living in USA  (ie 1.3% of USA population). Total Sikh population in USA is 400,000 . 90% of goods movement in USA is done via road using long haul 18 wheeler Trucks . One Truck cost $150,000 in USA. Total truckers on USA roads are 250,000 out of which 40,000 are truckers from Indian Punjab mostly #sikhtruckers ( ie 15% of total USA truckers are Punjabis ) .There are big trucking company in USA managed by Sikhs who are successfully dominating some of the USA states in trucking business and known as #singhtransporters

Sikh drivers who are known for their hard works are earning good income and living good family life in USA by doing trucking business. 40% of Trucking business in California is managed by Punjabis. Sometime truckers travel for two weeks on interstate delivery by driving continuously for 50 Hours in stretch with mandator breaks. Short route Trucker who work for the trucking company as an employee do earn aprox $1,800 per week , but those who are on long haul delivery duty can earn up to $3,000 per week.

Sikhs the dominator truckers in Canada

Sikh drivers are completely dominating the trucking business in Canada. Canadian population is 38M . 500,000 Indian are staying in Canada (ie aprox 2% of Canadian Population). As Canada has a vast land there is heavy demand of class 5 Truck drivers who are usually paid CAD$ 20/hours as a Driver. As in most of the winters there is heavy snow on Canadian road ,  truck driving on highway is very risky during snowing and also temp goes down to minus 30 Degree. There are 250,000 truckers in Canada , out of which 50,000 truckers are Punjabi who are mostly Sikhs . 50% of Canadian trucking operation is controlled by Sikhs. The Trucker earned aprox CAD 5,500 /month as a minimum. The inter country truck driver earn up to CAD 8,000/month . Cost of a truck in Canada is CAD$ 250,000.

Sikh Truckers – the Indian pride

Punjabi #Sikhtruckers living in USA and Canada carry a very high image and great respect in Indian Punjab. The Truckers ( mostly Sikh ) who own  trucks in USA/Canada have the capacity to earn up to Rs 10 Million / year.  Punjabi back home consider that Truckers are living luxury life in USA , Canada and other Europe . Many of Punjabi youth are aspired to be Truck drivers in the west. Some students going to Canada and USA for studies are ultimately targeting trucking jobs as their ultimate profession. The richness of Sikh truckers at USA & Canada can be seen by looking at their village house back home in India. There is no doubt that Singh are the Kings of trucking business.
